Commission number 1

Here is my completed coaster commission for Amy :)

The photo isn't that great, but the coasters turned out really well:
I can do other commissioned coasters, if you have paper that matches a room (or left over wall paper) I can make them for you, just get in touch @ sunflowercraftsbyanna@live.co.uk

2nd ever craft fair

Today I took part in my second ever craft fair. My friend Heidi ( from The Bee Hive Crafts) and I shared a table at the Hinckley URC craft and gift fair today. Our table looked fab:

There were lots of things for sale, from wood turned items to (very expensive) clothing, but I have to say our stall looked the most classy. Here are a few things we had on offer :)

Shambala bracelets from Sunflower Crafts - £10 each

Wire work bracelets from Sunflower Crafts - £10 each

Button bracelets from Sunflower Crafts - £2 each

Coasters from Sunflower Crafts - £5 for a set of 4

Lavender bags from The Bee Hive Crafts - various prices

Cute wallets from The Bee Hive Crafts - £5 each

I sold a few items, and was happy with my overall takings, plus I got two commissions for coasters, woohooo!

New things

There are lots of lovely new crafting supplies on there way to Sunflower towers:
Buttons:
 Donut beads:
Shamballa beads:
... and all the bits and pieces I need to make some funky new jewellery :)

Embroidery for Roberta

I did this embroidery for Bobbie for her blessing last Sunday. I have not done any kind of needle point work for ages, so I was very impressed with this "make it up as you go" project. Unfortunately we missed her blessing due to the snow, but she will be recieving her home made gift this weekend:

I am hoping to make something similiar for my son after his Christening this Sunday.

My Niche

I've been trying to find a craft niche, something that isn't catered for in my local area, because most of the things I do are already crafted by other people (well very similar anyway). There aren't many young knitters, but knitting, for the time it takes, isn't really that profitable so that I keep really just for family and friends.

I love to make jewellery, but again it seems like a "been there, done that" kind of craft, and with a bead shop now in Hinckley, it takes away some of the sparkle when they are running "how to make earrings" classes. I love to make earrings, even though I don't have pierced ears, I get a great deal of satisfaction from them.

It's the same with card making. A lot of people do it now, as it's a much cheaper alternative than buying cards for every birthday and christmas (weddings, christenings, new baby ... etc) however, to make it a profitable use of my time, I'd have to sell a card for at least £1.50.

Sewing is something I've dabbled in, but have never been really that confident using a sewing machine (I did get a book for Christmas though), but again, the kind of things I am interested in making are being made else where and I don't really want to end up in direct competition with someone.

So i have been searching the internet, looking for ideas of what my new sale niche could be, and I think I have found it. I'm not going to reveal anything until I have made my prototypes when all my supplies arrive, but I am very excited to get started on my new venture :)

A hat for Amy

I knitted this hat for Amy for Christmas:

Bees for Louie

My friend Heidi's little boy is obsessed with bees, so I made him a knitted be hat and some felt bees for Christmas:

The home crafter

I am a home crafter. Well, firstly, I am a Mummy, then I am a home crafter. I started out making home made cards many years ago for family and friends, and then expanded to making gifts too. My talents, as well as card making, include beading, knitting, sewing and other paper crafts, but I do like to dabble in many different crafts.

In December 2011 I took part in my first craft fair, where I sold hand made jewellery, christmas cards and decorations, and had to find a name to trade under, and there rose "Sunflower Crafts".

My first craft fair

So here is my blog/website of my crafting happenings, cards and gifts I have made for family and friends, and what I am making for up coming fairs. If you see anything you would like to purchase please feel free to leave a comment, with details, and I will get in touch with you :)
